Draw Overview

Draw sizes have been increased where possible to provide the maximum number of competitors possible access to competition. Qualifying will be a 32-player draw, in both ladies and men’s events, with 4 players qualifying through to each main draw. Our Main Draw will be a 28-player draw, with 4 seeded players receiving a first-round bye.

Doubles Finals will follow Singles Finals. Those playing doubles are asked to ensure they will be available for a showpiece final which will not be before 3pm and may be later depending on doubles player participation in singles events. 
Players are asked to report to the referee’s desk to sign in on arrival.
British Tour rules apply in respect of acceptance and seeding:

  1. Order of acceptance. ATP/WTA ranking, followed by ITF Pro ranking of 1,500 or better, followed by ITF World Tennis Number (LTA Open ranking is used where players have the same ITF WTN).

  2. Seeding as above, based on rankings at withdrawal deadline.

  3. The Tournament Director reserves the right to issue wild cards in accordance with LTA Competition Regulations.

Additional Details

The tournament coincides with the Grade 3 Giffnock Junior Open sponsored by Glenlith Interiors. As a result, practice court availability will be extremely limited and may not be possible should matches overrun. Tournament play will take priority over practice courts.
Courts may be available as follows:

  • Sunday – 9pm (daytime courts may be available depending on qualifying draw size)

  • Monday – 9pm (daytime courts may be available depending on junior event draw sizes)

  • Tuesday – 9pm

  • Wednesday – 12pm (1 court), 1:30pm (1 court), 7:30pm onwards

  • Thursday – 9pm (daytime courts may be available depending on junior event draw sizes)

  • Friday – 4:30pm (2 courts), 6pm (2 courts)

  • Saturday – 10:30am (2 courts), 11am (2 courts), 12pm (2 courts)

Where practice courts are not available additional warm-up time may be provided by the Tournament Referee.

An on-site stringing service is available to players throughout the tournament. Rackets handed in for stringing will be returned to players at 9am the next morning.

Giffnock Tennis Squash & Hockey Club operates an enhanced safeguarding regime, prioritising the physical and mental safety of everyone involved in club activities. Player Discipline and Parent Behaviour
Giffnock runs over 40 tournament events every year on the LTA calendar. This provides us with a wide range of experiences of player and parent behaviours. The Giffnock Junior Open will operate with a zero-tolerance approach to breaches of LTA codes of conduct. Players and parents are asked to always treat tournament officials and club staff with respect.
